Four women from Syracuse University came together on November 11, 1874 to form a society they named Gamma Phi Beta. Now, more than 140 years later, we celebrate their vision and dedication and all who have followed and built Gamma Phi Beta into one of the largest and most well-respected sororities in the world. We were the first official "sorority" — those that came before us were "women's fraternities." The Sorority has chartered more than 180 collegiate chapters across the United States and Canada and has more than 200,000 collegiate and alumnae members worldwide. The Sorority includes 140 active collegiate chapters and more than 150 active alumnae chapters.
We value the love and respect we have for one another and ourselves.
We value labor and encourage our members to serve others.
We value academic achievement. lifelong development, and growth.
We value loyalty, to one another and to our values.
